SEPTA's Trackless trolleys(ETB's)

Post by TransitChuckG on March 20th 2009, 4:15 pm

Many problems with the ETBs today.

Power blew out at a sub-station on Frankford ave, and the 66 had to be bused.
A trackless is in the shop ,the diesel EPU has low power, they think it's from overuse. The EPU is an emergency only motor ,and they use it for the wrong reasons, for extended trips, etc.

Hey Chuck do you really think these are worth the trouble ? Maybe regular buses would have been better. Tom

They would have gotten hybrids (or as we call them "slo-brids") from New Flyer.... that company isn't as great as SEPTA thinks it is...

Sorry it took me so long to reply.
Yes my trackless operator friend said they should have bought more hybrid buses in stead of the ETB's
